James Burns is an award-winning documentary filmmaker who has dedicated his career to creating cinematic, character-driven films about the human condition. He is personally invested in sharing the stories of those who tackle overwhelming odds every single day.

James was selected for the Saatchi & Saatchi New Director Showcase at Cannes Lion in 2016, won the TriBeCa Film Festival Special Jury Mention Award in 2015, nominated for two webbies, and was nominated for the D&AD Next Director Award in 2017. His work has been presented on Netflix, PBS Independent Lens, Vice on HBO, Vice.com, Amazon Prime, Nowness, the Atlantic, Vimeo Staff Picks, and NPR.
