SEBASTIAN MLYNARSKI

Sebastian Mlynarski is an award-winning director and cinematographer based in New York and Los Angeles. Originally from a sulfur-mining community in Poland, Sebastian came of age playing in punk bands in the East Village. He started his career behind the camera working as a portrait photographer for American Vogue.

Sebastian went on to direct music videos and documentary films that have been nominated for and won awards at Tribeca Film Festival, Ottawa International Film Festival, and MTV Video Music Awards. His conceptual film, The Waves, screened at the New Museum in New York and the biography he directed about artist Bjarne Melgaard and literary theorist Leo Bersani premiered at the Venice Biennale in 2011.

NoSo films partnered with Sebastian to develop a series in which we follow the Godfather of Punk, Iggy Pop, as he explores utopia-inspired architecture and the societies they tried to save.
